Our Story
So Far Sew Good started with a sewing machine and a straightforward idea: that people in Sleaford and the surrounding villages deserved a proper local curtain maker. Someone who would come to their home, listen to what they wanted, and make it by hand to fit their windows exactly.
That was over twenty years ago. Since then we have made thousands of pairs of curtains, roman blinds, cushions, pelmets and other soft furnishings for homes across Lincolnshire. The approach has not changed. Every job starts with a conversation at your kitchen table or in your living room, and ends with something that fits perfectly because it was made for your home and no one else's.
We are not a high-street shop with a showroom full of ready-made options. We work from a dedicated workroom in Sleaford, and everything we make is cut, sewn and finished by hand. This is not mass production. It is careful, considered work that takes time to get right, and we would not have it any other way.
Over the years we have built relationships with some of the best fabric and accessory suppliers in the country, including Jones Interiors, Lorna Syson, Hallis Hudson, iLiv and Bill Beaumont Textiles. That gives our customers access to thousands of fabrics, linings, trimmings, poles and tracks — far more choice than any retail showroom could hold. We bring samples to your home so you can see how a fabric looks in your own light, against your own walls. It makes all the difference.
How We Work
There is no hard sell, no pressure, and no rushing. We take the time to do things properly at every stage.
1. Consultation
We visit your home to talk through what you are looking for. Whether you have a clear idea or need guidance, we will discuss styles, fabrics and budget. There is no charge and no obligation.
2. Fabric Selection
We bring fabric samples for you to see and feel in situ. Colours and textures look different in every room, so choosing at home means you get exactly the right shade and weight. We can advise on what works best for your windows and the room's use.
3. Measuring
Precise measuring is everything. We take detailed measurements of every window, accounting for recess depth, stack-back space, pattern repeats and any other factors that affect how the finished product will hang and look.
4. Making
Your curtains or blinds are made by hand in our Sleaford workroom. We take care over every detail — pattern matching, lining, weighting, and finishing. Nothing leaves the workroom until it is right.
5. Fitting
We return to fit your curtains, blinds or soft furnishings in your home. We make sure everything hangs correctly, operates smoothly, and looks exactly as it should. If anything needs adjusting on the day, we sort it there and then.
